Monster

By: SC

Set up the cones in a circle. Have each player stand by a cone, with a soccer ball. When the coach blows the whistle the players should begin dribbling their ball clockwise around the circle. When the coach blows the whistle again, they should stop their ball, and begin dribbling the other direction. The coach should blow his whistle several times; the players should change directions each time. After about 1 or 2 minutes of dribbling around the outside of the circle, the soccer coach should instruct the players to enter the circle and start dribbling around inside the circle. The coach will then call out the name of a 'monster'. The 'monster' should kick his ball out of the circle and then attack the other players in the circle, trying to kick their ball out too. Any time a ball leaves the circle, whether the monster kicks it out, or the player loses control and kicks their own ball out, they must remain outside of the circle. When one soccer player is left, all players should reenter the circle and begin dribbling around again. The last player to be put out by the monster, becomes the new monster. This should continue until all players have had a chance at being the monster.

Instructions to the players
Stress to the dribblers to keep moving the soccer ball. Also stress to the players to keep the ball close to their body to control it. Tell them to keep their body between the ball and the 'monster' to keep it away from the 'monster'. Tell the dribblers to keep their heads up and look around, in order to see the monster coming. Also tell them to avoid the other dribblers. Stress to the monster, to attack the ball, not the person.

Variations
Increase or decrease the size of the circle. Call out two names to be two 'monsters'. Stress to the two 'monsters' to work together to take a ball from a dribbler.
