Out of all the baseball drills, baseball tee drills are the best for improving your game. From little league to the big leagues. The tee is a must have piece of equipment that should be utilized on a daily basis. Aside from having good balance the baseball tee drills will develop your swing into a short, compact , swing. It will also allow you to work on the problem areas of your swing. Let me start out by telling you what i like to do initially before ever taking batting practice. Set the tee up as if it was on the outside corner. It should be positioned just ahead of your back foot and far enough away to similate an outside pitch. This is your starting position for several reasons. It makes you stay closed and your hands short to the ball.It also makes you take an inside out position which is optimal. If you are having any problems with popping the ball up, it will be exposed here. You must hit the ball on a slightly down approach and with your hands inside or you will struggle at this drill. Dont worry! Keep practicing the baseball tee drills. Next, take your stride and hit the outside pitch. You should be hitting the ball the other way into a net. After you are feeling comfortable with this, practice a differant approach. Take your stride and stop! Wait 5 seconds, than hit the outside ball. This will feel weird at first, but it is a good indicater of where your balance is. It also simulates hitting an off speed pitch. If you are waiting back after your stride and not lunging forward this should not be a problem. As i said before, keep practicing!!!! Remember, stride, wait 5 seconds, than proceed with your swing. Do this until you feel comfortable with it. Once you have mastered this, when you take batting practice or when you are in a game, when an off speed comes you will be able to stay back and stroke the ball the other way..On your way to becoming a great hitter! Next, use baseball tee drills to improve your overall approach. Move the tee to the middle of your stance and practice hitting the ball to center. Into a net. After you feel comfortable, practice the start and stop approach again and visualize an off speed pitch, follow it to the tee and hit away. When you have had enough at this position, move the tee up in the stance simulating an inside pitch. Practice inside outing this pitch up the middle. When your swing is at an optimal level, you will be able to hit this pitch up the middle. If you have any flaws in your swing, you will not. The only way you can hit this pitch properly on a tee is to take the hands on an inside approach and with you coming down into the ball. If you have a loop in your swing, the tee will be punished. If you are coming under the ball with your approach, you will not be able to hit this pitch also. Remember, if you can do the baseball tee drills effectively it will show on the field and in batting practice. Remember, practice the right way!
